1. Introduction and Scope
These General Terms and Conditions govern the purchase, enrollment, access, and participation in educational products and services offered through Restoring Reason, including digital courses, correspondence programs, educational publications, downloadable materials, and related educational resources.
Restoring Reason is an educational initiative developed by Dr. Travis M. Corcoran, author of Restoring Reason, dedicated to encouraging independent thinking, critical reasoning, philosophical understanding, and intellectual development.
By purchasing or enrolling in a product or program, customers agree to these Terms and Conditions, subject to all applicable mandatory consumer protection rights.
2. Nature and Purpose of Educational Offerings
Restoring Reason provides philosophical and educational material intended to stimulate intellectual inquiry, encourage conceptual understanding, challenge assumptions, and develop independent reasoning.
Its educational philosophy emphasizes the importance of thinking for oneself rather than accepting conclusions solely on the basis of authority.
Programs may include recorded lectures, written lessons, correspondence, downloadable resources, reflective exercises, assessments, or other educational formats.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, programs do not constitute accredited academic qualifications, professional certifications, or regulated continuing education credits.
3. Product Descriptions and Specific Conditions
Each educational product or program is described on its respective sales or enrollment page.
The applicable product description will specify, where relevant:
The nature and content of the educational offering.
The purchase price and applicable taxes.
The duration of the program or period of access.
Whether educational materials are delivered immediately, progressively, or according to a predetermined schedule.
Whether personal correspondence, instruction, or other individual support is included.
Any participation requirements, technical requirements, or completion conditions.
Product-specific conditions form part of the agreement between the customer and Restoring Reason.
Where a product-specific provision conflicts with these General Terms and Conditions, the product-specific provision takes precedence, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
4. Enrollment and Contract Formation
Customers enroll by completing the designated registration and payment process.
Before placing an order, customers will be informed of the principal characteristics of the product, the total price, any recurring payment obligations, the duration of the agreement, and applicable cancellation conditions.
The agreement is concluded when the order is accepted and the customer receives confirmation of enrollment or purchase.
Access to paid educational material or services may be conditional upon successful payment.
Restoring Reason reserves the right to decline an order where there are legitimate reasons, including suspected fraud, unlawful conduct, or technical errors, subject to applicable law.
5. Pricing, Payments, and Taxes
Prices are displayed in euros unless otherwise indicated.
The total price, including applicable VAT and any additional mandatory charges, will be disclosed before payment is completed.
Payments are processed through Stripe or other designated secure payment providers.
Unless a product explicitly provides for recurring billing, purchases are one-time payments and do not automatically renew.
Where recurring billing is offered, the billing frequency, renewal terms, cancellation procedures, and applicable charges will be disclosed before enrollment.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate payment and billing information.
6. Delivery and Access
Educational products and services may be delivered through email, online learning platforms, downloadable files, or other designated digital channels.
The method of delivery and duration of access are specified in the relevant product description.
Where a fixed access period applies, access may expire at the end of that period.
Where lifetime access is expressly offered, its meaning and any applicable limitations will be explained in the product-specific conditions.
Customers are responsible for maintaining suitable internet access, compatible devices, and valid contact information, provided that relevant technical requirements have been disclosed before purchase.
Restoring Reason will exercise reasonable care to maintain access to purchased materials and services, subject to applicable statutory obligations.
7. Personal Correspondence and Individual Support
Certain programs may include opportunities for direct written correspondence with Dr. Travis M. Corcoran.
Such correspondence is included only where expressly stated in the applicable product description.
The number of replies, frequency, duration, submission requirements, and scope of personal correspondence will be defined in the product-specific conditions.
Personal correspondence is intended to encourage independent reasoning, philosophical reflection, conceptual understanding, and intellectual development.
It does not constitute unlimited personal consultation or a guarantee of comprehensive answers to every question.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the purchase of digital educational material does not include personal correspondence, private consultations, or individualized instruction.
8. Intellectual Property
All original educational materials, including written content, recorded lectures, videos, audio recordings, course structures, graphics, exercises, and related resources, remain the intellectual property of Restoring Reason or their respective rights holders.
Purchase or enrollment grants the customer a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the purchased materials for their intended educational purposes, subject to the applicable product conditions.
Unless expressly authorized, customers may not commercially reproduce, distribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly republish protected course materials.
Nothing in these terms restricts uses permitted by applicable copyright law.
Customers retain ownership of their own original contributions, questions, and written reflections.
9. Participant Responsibilities
Participants are expected to engage with educational materials and correspondence respectfully, honestly, and in good faith.
Restoring Reason encourages intellectual independence, critical examination, reasoned disagreement, and open philosophical inquiry.
Participants remain responsible for their own interpretations, decisions, conclusions, and applications of the material.
Unauthorized account sharing, unlawful redistribution of educational resources, harassment, or serious misuse of the services may result in appropriate restrictions or termination of access, subject to applicable law and contractual remedies.
10. Statutory Withdrawal Rights
Consumers purchasing products or services remotely may have a statutory right to withdraw from the agreement within 14 days, depending on the nature of the product and applicable law.
For service contracts, the withdrawal period generally begins when the contract is concluded.
For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, statutory withdrawal rights may cease once delivery begins, but only where all applicable legal requirements have been satisfied, including any required express prior consent, acknowledgment of the loss of the withdrawal right, and confirmation on a durable medium.
For services that begin during the withdrawal period at the consumer's express request, a proportionate charge for services already performed may apply where legally permitted.
The applicable withdrawal arrangements will be communicated before purchase.
Consumers may exercise an available withdrawal right by sending an unambiguous statement to travis@restoringreason.com or by using the model withdrawal form provided by Restoring Reason.
Any legally required refunds will be processed in accordance with applicable statutory deadlines and requirements.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes mandatory consumer withdrawal rights.
11. Cancellations and Refunds
Where a statutory withdrawal right applies, cancellations and refunds will be handled in accordance with that right.
After any applicable withdrawal period has expired, voluntary discontinuation of a fixed-term educational program does not automatically entitle the participant to a refund, except where applicable law, the relevant product conditions, or a separate agreement provides otherwise.
Where a purchased product or service is not delivered as contractually agreed, customers retain their statutory rights and remedies.
Restoring Reason may, at its discretion, offer additional refund arrangements or goodwill resolutions without creating an obligation to do so in other cases.
12. Changes to Educational Materials and Services
Restoring Reason may make reasonable updates to educational materials to improve clarity, accuracy, presentation, accessibility, or educational value.
Updates will not materially reduce the essential characteristics or contractual value of a purchased product without an appropriate legal basis.
Where changes to digital content or digital services trigger statutory notification, termination, or other consumer rights, those rights will be respected.
13. Availability and Technical Interruptions
Restoring Reason will use reasonable care to deliver its educational offerings reliably.
Temporary interruptions may occur due to maintenance, technical difficulties, platform disruptions, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
Reasonable efforts will be made to restore access and address service interruptions promptly.
Where a material part of a purchased service cannot be delivered, customers retain any rights or remedies provided by applicable law.
14. Educational Disclaimer
All Restoring Reason products and services are provided for philosophical and educational purposes.
The content does not constitute individualized medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other regulated professional advice.
Participants are encouraged to independently evaluate the information presented and seek appropriately qualified professional guidance where necessary.
Restoring Reason does not guarantee specific intellectual, personal, professional, financial, or other outcomes.
Nothing in this section excludes liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Privacy and Data Protection
Restoring Reason processes personal information for purposes including enrollment, payment administration, educational delivery, correspondence, customer support, and lawful business administration.
Personal information will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable.
Relevant service providers may include Stripe, MailerLite, Google Workspace, website hosting providers, and other authorized technical service providers.
Further information regarding the purposes and legal bases of processing, retention periods, recipients, international data transfers, and data subject rights is provided in the separate Privacy Policy.

Personal correspondence will not be publicly published or used as an identifiable testimonial without an appropriate legal basis or authorization.
16. Communications and Marketing
Customers agree to receive communications reasonably necessary for order confirmation, payment administration, course delivery, personal correspondence where included, and customer support.
Marketing communications unrelated to the purchased service will be sent only where permitted by applicable law.
Where consent is required, customers will be given an appropriate opportunity to provide or withdraw that consent.
Unsubscribing from optional marketing communications will not automatically terminate access to purchased educational products or necessary service communications.
17. Limitation of Liability
Restoring Reason will perform its contractual obligations with reasonable care and diligence.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Restoring Reason is not responsible for losses arising solely from a participant's independent decisions or applications of educational material.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or restricts liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Mandatory statutory remedies remain unaffected.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.
Where a customer qualifies as a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive that customer of mandatory protections available under the law of their country of habitual residence where applicable.
Customers are encouraged to contact Restoring Reason directly to seek an amicable resolution of complaints.
Any legal proceedings may be brought before a court having jurisdiction under applicable law.
19. Amendments to These Terms
Restoring Reason may update these General Terms and Conditions from time to time.
The version applicable to a purchase is ordinarily the version accepted when the relevant agreement was concluded.
Changes to existing agreements will take effect only where permitted by the contract and applicable law.
The latest version will be published on the Restoring Reason website with its effective date.
